Chief Justice Lahore High Court Khawaja Muhammad Sharif here Monday took suo motu notice against torture on Rescue 1122 personnel by the doctors of Services Hospital for bringing a stray kite twine victim to their hospital.
The Chief Justice has summoned SSP Operations, DCO Lahore and Dr Tariq of the hospital for June 23 (today). SHO Shadman police station was also directed to produce all the 14 arrested Rescue 122 personnel before the court. According to details, three rescuers brought a patient to the hospital namely Shafiq from near FC College after a stray kite twine entangled around his neck and he received serious injuries.
The rescuers shifted the patient at NOT (a minor operation unit) at the emergency of the hospital, a doctor namely Tariq came there and started exchanging harsh words with the rescuers. The doctor asked the rescuers why they had brought the patient at Services Hospital instead of any other hospital.
Dr Tariq also tore the uniform of a rescuer during scuffle while the patient with serious wounds was shifted to some unknown place from the minor operation room. Later in wee hours of Monday, on the complaint of doctors the Shadman police registered a case and raided head office of Rescue 1122 situated at FC College Chowk and arrested 14 personnel.
