US MIDDAY: sugar jumps; coffee and cocoa fall

Summaries of the ICE Futures US cocoa, coffee and sugar markets early on Thursday. September arabica coffee contract down 0.75 cent at $1.1840 per lb at 11:01 am EDT (1501 GMT). Session range from $1.1955 to $1.1755, the lowest for the second position since May 1.
Selling pressure as the robusta coffee market dropped but arabica futures pared losses as the dollar came off its highs, said traders. October raw sugar contract jumped 0.36 cent percent at 17.49 cents per lb at 11:03 am. Trading range from 17.02 to 17.62 cents, the highest for the second position on a weekly chart since May 2006.
Sugar extended its rally on investor fund buying, buoyed in part by news of the faltering Indian monsoon which may mean higher sugar imports by top consumer India in the months ahead, said traders. Benchmark September cocoa contract fell $10 to $2,494 at 11:04 am Trading range from $2,512 to $2,426, the lowest since May 26.
