The announcement of election schedule for National Assembly seats NA-123 Lahore-VI and NA-55 Rawalpindi-VI is not expected shortly as it was postponed on the report of the Chief Secretary Punjab regarding law and order situation, Secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan, Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad.
He said this while responding to a question about the announcement of election schedule for the above mentioned constituencies of the National Assembly on Friday night during the wedding ceremony former Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar's daughter.
To another question, he said that the election on both the seats would be held but not shortly as election of both the constituencies was postponed recently. We will receive a report about the law and order situation form the Chief Secretary of Punjab and then election schedule would be announced after the meeting of the Election Commission which would be presided over by the Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan, former Justice Hamid Ali Mirza.
Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan earlier postponed polls in constituencies No NA-123 Lahore-VI and NA-55 Rawalpindi-VI which were scheduled to be held on 30th June, 2009 and 4th July, 2009 respectively. According to the order of the Chief Election Commissioner, the election schedule was postponed till further orders in view of the report, dated the 8th June, 2009 received from the Chief Secretary, Government of the Punjab, Lahore regarding volatile law and order situation.
