Boeing International Corporation in collaboration with Direct Relief Intl. and PIA donated medicines weighing around four tons to the Internally Displaced Persons of Swat and Malakand on Monday. Joao Miguel M. R. Santos of Boeing handed over the consignment to Cap. Salman Azhar, General Manager Safety, PIA at Benazir International Airport. Dr Bakht Sarwar of Direct Relief Intl. was also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Miguel Santo said he had over 17-years' affiliation with Pakistan and visited it for 98 times. "These relief goods containing medicines are for the plight of so many people of Swat," the Boeing Director International Sales said. He said these medicines had reached Islamabad via US cities Seattle, Los Angeles and Dubai in UAE. He thanked Emirate and PIA for their support in airlifting those medicines and said Boeing Intl.
Corporation would keep on contributing towards the good of IDPs. "We have started in Seattle to collect more relied goods." Cap. Salman Azhar said PIA was airlifting relief goods free of cost from around the world and so far the airline had carried upto four thousands tons of such consignments from different destinations. Dr Bakht Sarwar of Direct Relief said his organisation was playing key role in fighting disasters both natural as well as man-made.
