Singapore share prices closed 0.70 percent higher on Tuesday, lifted by gains in blue chips including flag carrier Singapore Airlines, dealers said. The main Straits Times Index rose 15.97 points to 2,333.14. Volume totalled 1.26 billion shares worth 1.35 billion Singapore dollars (933 million US). There were 175 rising issues, 270 losers while 901 stocks were even.
Singapore Airlines finished 50 cents higher at 13.30 dollars but dealers said concerns over the impact of rising oil prices are likely to weigh on the stock. Singapore Telecommunications added three cents to 3.00, Singapore Press Holdings was two cents higher at 3.16 and Neptune Orient Lines was off four cents at 1.48. DBS fell two cents to 11.80, Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp rose seven cents to 6.68.
