Officials say massive overnight storms have unleashed widespread flooding in southern Germany and caused the deaths of two people. Scores of nonfatal injuries have been reported from multiple traffic accidents on slick roads after Friday night's storms.
A 46-year-old woman was killed after being struck by lightning in Baden Wuerttemberg, and a 33-year-old fire-fighter died after being electrocuted awhile trying to help pump out a basement. Duesseldorf airport was closed for more than an hour overnight, leading to flight delays and the rerouting of two planes. A Duesseldorf hospital lost its power as water filled its basement, and automaker Porsche says its main Stuttgart plant lost electricity.
