Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Pervez Rathore said that all Police officers and officials would be gradually imparted Rapid Response Force Training, to be held under the auspices of Pak Army on regular basis to effectively organise a quick reaction police force on war footing for a more co-operative and timely response in case of any emergency, where internal security is being jeopardised by anti-social or anti-state elements and to enhance police prowess to counter scourge of terrorism in urban areas.
Talking to media here on Saturday he said that seven terrorists, who had recently been apprehended by Lahore Police with deadly explosives and latest weaponry, apart from belonging to banned Tanzeam Jaesh-e-Muhammad and banned Tehreak-e-Talban, these terrorist had been getting terrorist training from various training camps located in Waziristan.
CCPO said that initially these terrorists belonged to banned Harkat-ul-Mujahidean, but after formation of Jaesh-e-Muhammad, these culprits joined it and got training of using various types of weapons, time bombs, rocket launchers, missiles and other explosives, besides getting training of explosive making.
The names of the training camps, running under control of Taliban in the Fata area included: Azam Warsak, Afghanistan Harkat-ul-Jahad Islami; Bhagra Afghanistan Harkat-ul-Jahad Islami; Mehmood Ghaznavi Maeskar Afghanistan; Maeskar Karga Kabil Afghanistan and Maeskar Wana Miranshah. While the names of notorious terrorist training teachers included: Abubakr Wana Miranshah, Ustad Munir, Ustad Taimour, Saif-u-Rehman Mansoor, Adeab-u-Rehman and Sharjeel.
CCPO disclosed that these culprits had been carrying out anti-state activities before, but, after Swat operation, they declared open war against Pakistan and chalked out a plan to attack all big cities of the country, including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar.
They also had a plan to strike at installations of a sensitive institution, paramilitary forces, police and leading political leaders. The commanders of banned Jaesh-e-Muhammad and Tahreak-e-Taliban sent these terrorists in different groups to big cities with explosives and heavy weaponry, he added.
However, CCPO pointed out, Lahore Police organised a special police team which unearthed the network of these terrorists, and on a tip-off from informers, these seven terrorists were arrested from Lahore, along with explosives and heavy weaponry before they could strike at innocent citizens and damage public property.
The Lahore Police has recovered 22 kg explosive, two and half kg nut bolt, one riffle 222 bore, one riffle 244 bore, three pistols 30 bore, two magazines and 100 cartridges from possession of arrested terrorists. The arrested terrorists include: Karim Baksh, Abdul Rehman alias Mana, Muhammad Shahzad alias Muhammad alias Ustad G, Ijaz Mehmood alias Jaju, Muhammad Younas alias Mansoor Ahmed Rizwan, Shafaqat Farooqi alias Mavia and Hafiz Muhammad Ijaz alias Ijaz Mavia.
