05 Jul, 2009

Central Secretary General, Overseas, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Sheikh Kaiser Mehmood, has said that there is no justification exist to divide Punjab. Mehmood said here on Saturday that some rejected and disgruntled politicians wanted to blackmail the government for their vested interest by raising the issue of division of Punjab through making another province.
The PML-N leader further said that Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif without influenced by anybody would continue his mission of developing Punjab and raising the living standard of the people. He said the Chief Minister Punjab as per promise gave Chiniot status of the district.
If in Southern Punjab such a situation arises, it could also be considered, but making of the separate province on language basis was worst example of ill will and short-sightedness, he opined. Kaiser Mehmood said a MPA who was deprived of ministry and another famous Senator, who was not 'absorbed' in PML-N wanted to make Southern Punjab. 'Pakistan today needs national cohesion to face internal and external threats, hence, there was no great absurdity than raising issue for division of Punjab.
The PML-N Central Additional Secretary General, Chaudhry Jaffar Iqbal, said there is need to create unity into our ranks to snub the activities of extremists. He said the PML-N leadership was endeavouring to unite the people of four provinces for the sake of country's integrity and stability.
