Commissioner Tahir Hussain said that the government had decided to set up 'Centre of Excellence Schooling Project' to provide free and quality education to students of poor families. He added that modern education facilities including computer labs, hostels and good syllabi would be provided in these centres.
He said that in the first phase an excellence centre was being establishment at Govt Girls High School No 2 Peoples Colony Faisalabad and construction work had been started. He stated this while paying a visit to review the development work at this school here on Saturday.
The Commissioner directed the concerned departments to complete construction work of this project as soon as possible so that the deserving students could benefit out of this good scheme of the Punjab govt. He directed to remove all bottlenecks from this important project beneficial not only for students but also for parent and teachers.
At this occasion Commissioner disclosed that under this scheme following schools Government Technical High School Peoples Colony, Government High School Jaranwala, Government M C High School Jaranwala, Government High School No 1 Samundri and Government Girls High School Samundri had been proposed for establishment of excellence centres.
Meanwhile, EDO Education Sohaib Imran said that Secretary Education Nadim Ashraf had also visited Government Girls High School No 2 Peoples Colony to check its feasibility as excellence centre. He further said that a comprehensive report on this project prepared by City District Government and Education Department of Faisalabad had also been sent to the provincial government.
