Government to place its view before Supreme Court: Gilani

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the government would place its view before the Supreme Court regarding levying carbon surcharge on petroleum products. Talking to media here on Tuesday, the Prime Minister said that the government would submit its view before the apex court in the next hearings.
To a question, he said that the government would announce National Finance Commission (NFC) award, national education policy as well as decision about local governments after taking on board the provinces. A meeting to this effect will be held today (Wednesday).
Prime Minister said that the government and the military are in touch with each other over prevailing challenges to the country. Gilani said that Pakistan wants good relation with all the neighbouring countries including India.
To a question about accountability, he said that the accountability process was being reformed with due care and legislation is being done to replace National Accountability Bureau with another institution. That is why, he said that the government reduced budget of the NAB, he added. He said that under the new legislation the process of accountability would be brought in the control of Ministry of Law rather than chief executive.
About changes in the Cabinet, he said that the consultation with the President and decision to this effect would be taken soon. He said that the performance of the ministers is being reviewed.
Prime Minister said that the government would soon launch Federal "Dastar Khawn" for the poor as is being done in the Punjab in the form of Sasti Roti, he added. He said the scheme would be started from the big cities. Gilani said that the government was following home-grown policy to tackle all the problems including war on terrorism and was not taking any dictation from abroad.
