Indonesian shares ended 2.37 percent higher on Tuesday on expectations of a peaceful presidential election the next day, dealers said. The Jakarta Composite Index rose 48.23 points to 2,083.24. Heavyweight Telkom rose 1.2 percent to 8,550 rupiah, Unilever added 0.5 percent to 10,050 and Astra gained 1.1 percent to 23,500.
Mining giant Bumi jumped 11.1 percent to 1,900 rupiah, Bukit Asam rose 6.0 percent to 11,550 and Antam gained 4.2 percent to 2,000. The rupiah finished at 10,265 to the dollar compared with 10,280 at the last close.
