165,000 temporary employees of public sector regularised

The present government, in pursuance of the directives and wishes of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto have regularised the services of over 165,000 temporary employees of public sector.
Minister for Labour Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah, talking to media here on Thursday said it was Benazir Bhutto's desire to help the temporary workers after coming to power and it was second initiative of the government in this regard after restoration of all those who were terminated after the second term of PPP.
Minister for Defence Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar and President Peoples Labour Bureau Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed were also present on the occasion. Referring to the regularisation of the temporary workers, he said, "this is another promise of PPP's shaheed leader Benazir Bhutto with the masses which is being fulfilled by the PPP government under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani."
He said all the government departments had been directed to take necessary steps in this direction and the decision to regularise the services of the temporary employees be taken in letter and spirit. No violation in this regard would be tolerated and all temporary employees would be given their rights as per the aspiration of PPP leader Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, he added.
He said all the employees irrespective to their political affiliations would get benefit from this decision as was done in the case of restoration of the services of the employees sacked in late 90s on political grounds.
Answering a question he said the PPP government had also decided to finance the high educational facilities to the children of the labourers abroad besides bearing the expenses of those children of the labourers who cannot afford to finance their studies within the country.
