The first consignment of Pakistani mangoes famous world-wide for its taste and aroma arrived here by PIA on Friday. The consignment of 1.5 ton was imported by the Midtrans Commodities International Company, a Chinese based Pakistani enterprise.
"This time with the co-operation of three organisations namely the Pakistan Horticulture Development and Export Board, Iftikhar Ahmed and Company and Midtrans Commodities imported the Pakistani mangoes", said Chief Executive Officer of the Midtrans Mohammad Yasin.
He said that the mangoes were directly picked from the orchards in post harvest conditions, preserved and packed using scientific methods to protect its natural taste and fragrance. As there was high demand of Pakistani mangoes here, Yasin said he plans to import 20 tons mangoes in current season, the volume five times more than the last year.
Like previous years, the Pakistani mangoes will be put on sale on big department stores in China for sale, he said. He pointed out that a number of Chinese companies operating in Pakistan, avail this opportunity to gift Pakistani mangoes here.
