Lawyers again torture cop, get murder accused freed

12 Aug, 2009

A group of lawyers again tortured a police officer and got free a murder accused from his custody here after the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court rejected the bail plea of the accused. It has become a routine affair that either a cop or media person falls prey to lawyers' vandalism at court premises.
Sub Inspector Riasat Ali of Sahiwala Police Station, Faisalabad brought record of a murder case and produced it in the LHC. After hearing application for interim bail by the accused Ghulam Hussain, the court rejected his bail plea. The cop arrested him outside court premises at Turner Road. All of sudden a group of lawyers led by Tariq Mahmood Bosal attacked him.
They kicked the officer and snatched his mobile and case record before tearing his uniform. Policeman could not resist their torture too long and gave up. The lawyers escaped from the scene along with the accused Ghulam Hussain. The officer went straight to CJ LHC and complained about the lawyers manhandling.
The CJ asked him to adopt legal course against the wrong doers. The officer then went to Mozan police station and lodged a complaint against lawyers. The police registered a case but no arrested has been made so far. This has been the fourth incident in which lawyers either beat policemen or journalists.
