The 63rd Independence Day was celebrated here with great enthusiasm and fervour on Friday. A grand gathering was held at the Pakistan Embassy in which Ambassador Masood Khan performed the flag hoisting in the presence of representatives of the three forces, Pakistani bankers, traders and a large number of students and Pakistani community based in China.
The Ambassador read out messages of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and national anthem was also played on the occasion. Later, students of Pakistan Embassy College Beijing sang national songs and got admiration.
NEW DELHI: Flag hoisting, playing national anthem, national songs and tableaus marked Independence Day ceremony held in Pakistan High Commission. Shahid Malik, Pakistan High Commissioner to India hoisted national flag with the playing of national anthem. Messages of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani were read on the occasion. Children of Pakistan High Commission School presented tableaus and national songs. Later, wife of High Commissioner distributed sweets among the children.
KABUL: The 63rd anniversary of Pakistan's Independence Day was celebrated with national zeal and fervour at the premises of Embassy of Pakistan, Kabul.
The ceremony was inaugurated with recitation from the Holy Quran followed by playing of National Anthem and flag hoisting by Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq. The Independence Day messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out, says a message received here from Kabul.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Sadiq urged the Embassy officers, staff and Pakistan community in Kabul to renew their commitment to serve their country. He urged them to realise the value of the gift of independence bestowed by Almighty Allah on Muslims of South Asia.
Ambassador Sadiq impressed upon them to maintain the spirit of independence and pursue the cherished objectives of our forefathers. He emphasised that to achieve these objectives and goals every individual has to play his part with dedication and commitment to make Pakistan stronger and prosperous.
KAULA LUMPUR: The 63rd Independence Day was celebrated with national fervour and enthusiasm at the High Commission for Pakistan in a simple but impressive ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The function commenced with the hoisting of flag by the High Commissioner for Pakistan, Lieutenant General Tahir Mahmud Qazi (Retd) to the accompaniment of national anthem. The messages of President and the Prime Minister were read on the auspicious occasion.
While addressing the Pakistani community, and other participants, the High Commissioner highlighted the significance of the day and paid rich tribute to the founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the leaders of Pakistan movement. He said that Pakistan was envisaged by its founding fathers to be a homeland for the Muslims of South Asia where democracy, Constitutionalism, rule of law and respect of human rights would reign supreme and to ensure social justice and economic opportunities for all.
He said, "On this auspicious day, we must rededicate ourselves to uphold the principles for which Pakistan was created". He said that Pakistan and Pakistani nation has all the ingredients to rise and shine as one of the greatest nation of the world.
It can be achieved by building an egalitarian society in Pakistan imbibed with the spirit of religious harmony and ethnic tolerance aimed at transforming Pakistan into a modern, progressive and moderate nation.
Qazi said that every Pakistani living in Malaysia is the Ambassador of Pakistan, and it is obligatory for each of them to work for the strength and prosperity of it. He also urged them to work together with their Malaysian brethren to transform existing close relations between the two Muslim countries into better political and socio-economic relations.
MANILA: On the occasion of 63rd Independence Day of Pakistan, a flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Pakistan House in Manila. The Ambassador of Pakistan to the Philippines Muhammad Naeem Khan hoisted the flag as the national anthem was played. Dua was offered for progress and prosperity of the country.
The Ambassador read out the messages of the President and the Prime Minister on this occasion. The ceremony was attended by the members of Pakistan community belonging to various walks of life and officials of the Mission. In his speech, the Ambassador recalled the relentless efforts of our forefathers who rendered unprecedented sacrifices to achieve the goal of political independence and ideological freedom.
The Ambassador said that the day symbolises the leadership of the great leader Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who inspired the nation to achieve what looked an insurmountable task. He appreciated the resilient character of the people of Pakistan who successfully withstood all trials and tribulations in past and present.
The Ambassador recalled the recent arduous dislocation of the people of Swat and adjoining areas which was a largest of its kind in history of the nation and praised Pakistani nation for sharing whatever they had with their brothers who were displaced.
Recalling that the turbulent areas of Malakand division were attaining peace and normalcy, the Ambassador appreciated the generous assistance made by the people of the Philippines and Pakistanis living in this country for the relief and rehabilitation of their displaced brothers.
He appealed to the Pakistani community to continue supporting the government efforts and make generous financial contributions in Prime Minister's Relief Fund for the rehabilitation of the peoples of Malakand division. The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by the reception hosted by the Ambassador at the Embassy residence.
SEOUL: Independence Day was celebrated at Seoul, South Korea with fervour and enthusiasm. A flag hoisting ceremony was held at Pakistan House where messages of President and Prime Minister were read out by Ambassador, who highlighted significance of the day.
The Ambassador also drew community's attention to the efforts being made by the leadership to cope with the challenges through promoting national unity, harmony and active participation of people. A significant number of Pakistani community members including Pakistani students and businessmen attended the function.
GENEVA: The 63rd Independence Day was celebrated at the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations, Geneva, in a simple and dignified ceremony. The flag was hoisted at 0900 hours at the Chancery. On this occasion, Ambassador Zamir Akram, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN read out messages from the President and the Prime Minister, says a fax message received here from Geneva.
Quoting the President's message, Ambassador Zamir Akram said that "the recent burning of the houses and acts of vandalism against the Christians in Gojra in the month of our independence is only a manifestation of a negative mindset. Let us therefore resolve to defeat this pernicious mindset."
Reading the Prime Minister's message, Ambassador Zamir Akram reminded the gathering that "the country and the people are confronting a serious challenge posed by the terrorists and militants." He added " However, it is heartening to note that the entire nation has stood up against these elements and we would defeat their evil designs to make this country secure and peaceful."
Officers and officials from the Permanent Mission of Pakistan accredited to the UN and other International Organisations as well as the Permanent Mission to World Trade Organisation and Pakistanis in Geneva had gathered to mark the occasion.
