Mindset causing extremism to be eliminated: Kaira

Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Qamaruz Zaman Kaira on Friday reiterated government's firm resolve against terrorism, saying particular mindset that causes extremism would be eliminated from the society. The need is to remove a thinking from the minds of those who are responsible for monster of terrorism, he said while addressing a special function organised by Pakistan Television (PTV) held here in connection with Independence Day celebrations.
Qamar Zaman Kaira said terrorists are our enemies and Pakistan would not only eliminate them in numbers but also ideologically. The democratic PPP-led government is committed to make the country economically and socially strong and stable as envisioned by our elders.
He said Pakistan was not conceived as a security state rather it came into being as a welfare state, adding that today the main focus of the present set-up is to put the country on a right constitutional and democratic path where no one dare to derail. He said efforts are also continuing to utilise all national resources for the betterment of people, make the country a cradle of peace and ensure that Pakistan is a pure welfare state.
The Minister lauded the spirit and patriotism of people of Malakand for coming out of their homes to celebrate the independence day and said this was quite an encouraging for the citizens living in other parts of Pakistan. "I salute your courage, our spirit is very high and with unity we would defeat the elements who are against the progress, peace and stability of our beloved country," he added.
