August 15, the Independence Day of India will be observed as Black Day by Kashmiris across the world including Pakistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) and Indian held Kashmir (IHK) to express complete dissociation from India. Call for observing the Black Day coupled with complete strike, has been given by All Parties Hurriyat Conference and other organisations.
Protest and processions will take place in all small and major cities and towns in IHK and AJK whereby all shops and business centers will remain closed. Participants of the rallies will wear black bands around their arms and heads whereby black flags will be hoisted atop the buildings. The Kashmiris, through the demonstrations, also want to protest Indian atrocities on the first martyrdom anniversary of eminent Kashmiri leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz during their march for Srinagar from Muzaffarabad on August 11 last year.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, anti-India rallies will be organised in Muzaffarabad and all other eight district headquarters of Mirpur, Kotli, Bagh, Bhimbher, Havaili, Palandri, Rawalakot and Neelam valley. In Mirpur, a complete wheel-jam strike followed by complete shutter-down, as announced by Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajran, will be observed.
Major protest rally will be held at the District Court premises at 10.00 am in the morning. The National Events Organising Committee will observe the Black Day with the co-ordination of various public representative organisations representing the people of all walks of life. In their addresses to the scheduled rallies, speakers will call upon the world community, international organisations and human rights groups including United Nations to perform their due role for Kashmir's freedom.
