Price hike during Ramazan: Qaim moves DCOs, DDOs against hoarders, profiteers

Taking notice of hoarding and the resultant prevailing 'artificial' price hike, Sindh government on Friday warned the traders of a stern action by the District Co-ordination Officers (DCOs) and Deputy District Officers (DDOs), who have recently been given judicial powers to curb the menace during the holy month of Ramazan.
The warning came from Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, who was talking to media after laying floral wreath at Jinnah Mausoleum on 63rd Independence Day of the country. Besides discouraging increase in the prices of daily use items, the government would take stern action against those traders involved in creating an 'artificial' price hike through hoarding, the chief minister said.
He said the district officers, now equipped with judicial powers after necessary legislation, would bring the profiteers to justice, particularly during Ramazan. He said his government would not allow 'artificial hoarding and inflation' in the province and would ensure the availability of daily kitchen items at the government-fixed rates.
