NWFP demands payment of outstanding hydel-power royalty

NWFP Senior Minister, Bashir Ahmad Bilour has demanded of the federal government to pay the outstanding amount in the head of net-profit on hydropower generation to resolve the problems of load shedding, price hike and law and order in the province.
Speaking at a function held in connections with the 63rd Independence Day of Pakistan, here on Friday, he said the provincial government would protest with the federal government if it did not pay the outstanding amount. He said the terrorists who were giving five-day deadlines by the provincial government were no more alive.
The government had made every effort to resolve the problem through dialogue, but terrorists had some other agenda. Bilour said the war against terrorism would continue till the elimination of the last terrorist. He said the government was making efforts to resolve the problem of price hike in the province.
The minister announced that the development funds of the ANP members of Senate, National Assembly and Provincial Assembly would be utilised for the provision of fire brigades to districts, tehsils and towns. On the occasion, he also inaugurated a mega development programme for the improvement of gardens, parks and infrastructure of the city under Peshawar Urban Development Programme. He said the US agency, USAID had announced US $15 million for the development of Peshawar.
This amount of about Rs 1.25 billion would be spent to improve infrastructure and provide other civic facilities to the people of the city. District Nazim, Haji Mohammad Omar Mohmand, Provincial Secretary Local Government & Rural Development, Hafiz-ur-Rehman, Commissioner Peshawar, Shahrukh Arbab, DCO, Sahibzada Mohammad Anis, Nazim Town-I, Shaukat Ali, Naib Nazim Town-I, Haji Niaz Mohammad, Director General (PDA), Qazi Liaq Ahmad, among others, attended the function.
