17 Aug, 2009

A tower of 220 KV Guddu-Quetta transmission line was blown up on Sunday by unidentified persons in Dera Allahyar area. The incident caused suspension of power supply to many areas of Balochistan including Quetta. The tower was located along Dera Allahyar Bypass, which fell down after the explosives attached to it detonated.
Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) sources said their teams had reached the spot and the repairing work would be started within 24 hours. However, it might take one week, they added. It may be recalled, on August 14, miscreants had destroyed two towers of 220KV transmission line in the same area, and their repair work was yet to be started.
