Faisalabad granted regional status to host hockey matches

Faisalabad has been granted the Regional Status to host the National and International Hockey Test Matches, said Mian Qasim Zia, President, Pakistan Hockey Federation, while talking to Media at Faisalabad Hockey Stadium in Madina Town here.
He told that at present 33 selected trainees are being imparted training in Faisalabad Hockey Stadium by the Academy who are being paid a monthly stipend of Rs 1000 and getting medical facilities. Qasim Zia said that Faisalabad and Gojra have produced talented hockey players who have enhanced the name of country by winning the International Hockey Matches.
He said that the main object of setting up the Hockey Academies at divisional level is to impart hockey training to selectees at grass-root level. He exhorted the trainees to devotedly get hockey training in the Academies set-up by the Pakistan Hockey Federation and maintain complete discipline among them. President, PHF, was introduced with the trainee players of the Academy. He especially embraced with Hafiz Ali Umair, GoalKeeper of the Faisalabad Academy team and appreciated his keen interest in the Hockey.
