Germany providing Rs 1.17 billion for food assistance to IDPs

The Federal Republic of Germany is providing EUR 10 million (Rs 1.17 billion) for food assistance to internally displaced and conflict affected persons in NWFP and FATA. According to a press release issued by the German Embassy here on Friday.
The funds will be made available to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) for the benefit of IDPs and locally affected persons whose food and nutrition security has been adversely affected by armed conflict. The project activities will include general food distribution to the most vulnerable families and supplementary food distribution for pregnant women, infants and children. With this project WFP plans to reach approximately 600,000 beneficiaries, press release added.-PR
