The DCO Hyderabad further informed that the government is already managing to provide Atta at its subsidised rates of Rs 100 for 10-kg flour bag through especial stalls under the Ramzan Package. Aftab Ahmed Khatri directed the shopkeepers to exhibit the price list in front of their shops for information of general public and to ensure that the commodities are kept available at the fixed rate. The DCO also made it clear that any contravention of this order shall be treated an offence punishable with imprisonment of term which may extend to three years and with fine may be extend to Rs 1,00,000 under the Price Control Prevention of Profiteering and Hoarding Act 1977.
Meanwhile, the EDO Revenue Hyderabad in his statement has informed that the Revenue Officers with special judicial powers have recovered a total fine of Rs 28,900 from 67 shopkeepers on account of charging high prices during 17th August to 20th August 2009.
