Saleem Qureshi memorial table-tennis tournament: prize distribution ceremony organised

The District Government Hyderabad has invested huge amount to develop infrastructure for sports and civic facilities to convert the Hyderabad City into modern and hub of sports activities.
This was observed by Taluka Nazim Hyderabad City Shabar Chusti while addressing prize distribution ceremony of "All Sindh Saleem Qureshi Memorial Table-Tennis Tournament" on its final day organised by Friends Table-Tennis Club Hyderabad at Barkat Bhai Hall, Niaz Stadium Hyderabad late Saturday as chief guest.
Chusti said that it was because of the efforts of District Government Hyderabad that the status of Niaz Stadium has been upgraded upto international standard and air services at Hyderabad Airport has been got restored to pave the way for having international matches at Hyderabad.
In addition to that many sports grounds have been developed and the youths have been facilitated to play games there, which were previously compelled to play in the streets, he added. He said that District Government Hyderabad has focused not only on the sports but have laid down a new and efficient drainage and water supply system with hundreds kilometer asphalt roads, flyovers in the district. As such it was the first time that people of Hyderabad were being provided 100 percent pure safe drinking water. He said that in order to keep the city peaceful, beautiful and maintain harmony with each others, the District Government has made tradition to conduct flower shows, Mehfil-e-Mushairah, develop parks, green belt along with the roads and decorating Chowks with flowers in the district.
Paying rich tributes to the renowned journalist late Saleem Qureshi, Shabar Chusti said that late Qureshi was not only brave journalist but was a defender of public rights, and source of awareness among the people. His services in the field of journalism could not be forgotten.
The President Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industries (HCCI) Shafique Qureshi also lauded the services rendered by Saleem Qureshi and said that sports nowadays have more important not only to create healthy atmosphere in the society but it also plays important role in foreign diplomacy. He said that our young players were the ambassadors of the nation and who have to groom them up to the aspiration of our nation. He said that we have good talented players and with our little efforts, these youngsters could shine the name of our nation in whole world. He also lauded the services of District Government Hyderabad for promoting sports activities in Hyderabad. He also asked the sport oriented organisations, sports clubs to identify talented youths and groom them up. He announced prizes of Rs 10,000/- for each winner male and female side and Rs 5,000/- for each runner male and female side.
The renowned journalists Abdul Hafeez Abid while paying rich tributes to the late Saleem termed him and authority on the subject of economic affairs. He said that Qurdshi did not misuse his status even for getting favourable recommendations for his progeny. However he expressed his sorrows that the organisation concerned did not extend any help to the ailing journalists Salem in his difficult time. He said that the work and services rendered by Saleem Qureshi would remain a guide line for the young journalists in their future career.
Earlier, Sadia won the final trophy by defeating Yasmin Humera from match in women side while Yasir Bhatti won the final trophy by defeating Raheel Qureshi final match in male side. The Taluka Nazim Hyderabad City Shabar Chusti and President HCCI Shafique Qureshi presented the trophies, shields, certificates and cash awards to the winners and runners players. Besides the admiring shields were also presented to other officers and sports promoters on account of their efforts in making the tournament more success.
Earlier, the Secretary Friends Table-Tennis Club Hyderabad (FTTC) Qaseem Qureshi who was also the son of late Saleem in his welcome address said that FTTC Hyderabad was already endeavouring hard to promote the sports and talented players of Hyderabad. He said that the practice of such tournaments would be continued in future as well and players would be patronised accordingly. He expressed thanks of all individuals and organisations who cooperate in organising this tournament.
