Punjab Minister for Sports, Dr Tanveer-ul-Islam has said that inquiry would be conducted into the matter of paying Rs1,400 instead of Rs5,000 to the outstanding players of under 16 Sports Gala and if the allegation proved, strict action would be taken against the responsible.
He announced this, while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of Inter Club Taekwondo Tournament at Children Library Complex held under Lahore Taekwondo Association. While addressing the ceremony, Secretary General, Punjab Taekwondo Association Mohammad Baber alleged that Punjab Sports Board had paid Rs1,400 to the position holders players of under 16 Sports Gala instead of Rs5,000 as announced by the Sports Minister. The Minister took serious notice of the complaint and announced inquiry into the matter.
Dr Tanveer-ul-Islam said that Taekwondo Training academy would be established in Lahore for the promotion of Martial Arts games. He said that Martial Arts was good technique of self defence as well as healthy sports and children should take part in these games, which kept a person physically and mentally fit. The Minister also distributed shields and certificates among the position holder players.
