Government to permit BT cotton cultivation

Government has decided to give the permission to cultivate BT cotton in the country and it is expected that an ordinance in this regard would be released within few days. According to the sources, the government had announced the first Textile and Trade Policy and it had been decided in the policy that the production of cotton would be increased from 13 million bales to 25 million bales within the next five years.
After this policy it was decided to legally give the permission to cultivate BT cotton and an ordinance by the president is expected to be released within few days. Meanwhile, it is learnt that more than 100 pesticide and seed companies of southern Punjab had started their struggle for the legal registration of their BT cottonseeds without having any required research and standard on it.
