The students of Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) Public School D I Khan on Sunday launched a tree plantation campaign by planting saplings at Haq Nawaz Park and Liaquat Park to support protection of natural environment.
Some 1,000 saplings of various kinds of trees were planted in a dozen places at two major public parks of the city besides other places. Students and teachers of OPF school participated in the plantation drive started with the theme of 'plantation and care of plants'.
The purpose of tree plantation campaign was to motivate the people to plant maximum number of trees and to create awareness about their benefits.
Addressing the participants after planting saplings Acting Principal OPF Public School Ghazala Saleem said that Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis has taken a massive tree plantation campaign at the national level to check adverse impact of climate change with the participation of OPF students countrywide.
She said that OPF, being a national organisation, is strongly committed towards its national responsibilities and it has been supportive of such activities, she continued.
