Exemption from declaring religion/sect in DHA City's balloting form

27 Aug, 2009

The Defence Officers Housing Authority (DHA) exempted the applicants for DHA City balloting from filling the column of religion/sect. This was announced by an official of DHA in a statement here on Wednesday. It intimated that the column of religion/sect, included in the DHA City's form for balloting, was meant for record/hereditary of property purposes only.
The statement said that the DHA had an unblemished record of maintaining transparency, security and safety in the land transaction process. The information was meant only for ensuring the transfer of property to the next of kin (NOK) in case of the death of the plot owner, in accordance with the principles of jurisprudence of the plot owner's religion/sect.
It has nothing to do with the balloting process, nor is it intended to make any segregated living zones for people of different religions, the statement added. The DHA has, therefore, decided to exempt the applicants for DHA City balloting from filling the column of religion/sect. The applicants may or may not write their religion/sect in the balloting form as it has no bearing on the balloting process, it was pointed out.-PR
