Divisional Commissioner Tahir Hussain has stressed upon all concerned officers performing duties at Sastay Ramazan Bazars and mobile flour sale points to ensure strict vigilance of selfish elements who are misusing this facility and discourage them completely so that the benefits of this pro-poor initiative could be reached to the genuine and deserving consumers.
He issued these directions during his surprise visits to Sastay Ramazan Bazars at Gojra, T. T. Singh, Chiniot and other towns of the division. He also directed the concerned police authorities to depute more police personals at flour sale points and Ramazan Bazars to ensure security and discipline there.
At this occasion the Commissioner reminded the officers and officials that the real objective behind this Chief Minister Punjab pro-poor initiative was to provide relief to genuine and deserving consumers during Ramazan and the whole administrative machinery should strive to make it a success.
He further said that the Punjab government was spending billions of rupees as a subsidy to provide atta and other essential items to consumers on cheap and affordable rates. He directed the DCOs to evolve a mechanism like issuance of tokens at flour sale points to tackle the problems of long queues.
