Supreme Court summons health, food secretaries

The Supreme Court has summoned Secretary Health, Secretary Food, Secretary Prosecution and Controller Food in a suo motu proceedings initiated against unhygienic conditions of the hotels and directed them to produce the details pertaining to the challans and progress of prosecution and action taken against such hotels.
The court also directed district executive officer to arrange raids through chief food inspector specially such hotels in posh areas of the city and submit the detailed report on August 28. The court had taken action over a report of news channel pertaining to unhygienic conditions of the hotels in different areas of the city.
Meanwhile court also released one Shafiq Saeed who was involved in supplying expired juices to hotels. The petitioner counsel Azhar Siddique contended that he was not involved in such business. He said the petitioner had received expired juices from the company and had sent back the same to the company. He contended that the respondent officials had seized the juices in question from railway station, which he had later returned back to the company. The court inclining with the petitioner counsel released the accused on bail.
