Cattle lifters: police directed to launch crackdown

Chairman Chief Minister's Taskforce on Anti-Cattle Lifting, Chaudhry Ali Asghar Munda, MPA has expressed his dissatisfaction over the efficiency of police in controlling the incidents of cattle lifting and directed police to launch a crackdown against cattle lifters and their patrons.
Presiding over a meeting to review the incidents of cattle lifting in Lahore Division on Thursday, Chaudhry Ali Asghar Munda said that cattle-lifting was considered an ordinary crime in rural areas but it caused serious financial loss to the poor farmers who lost their means of earning.
He directed strict monitoring of Mandi Maweshian Shahpur and strict vigilance over the entry and exit points of urban areas. He said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif wanted to root out a social evil like cattle lifting. He directed all District Police Officers to submit a fortnightly report regarding incidents of cattle lifting in their respective areas. Additional Secretary Home (Police) Raja Muhammad Zahid, representative of Commissioner Lahore Division, DIG Sheikhupura Range and DPOs Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana attended the meeting.
