The Revenue Officers Thursday received fine of Rs 18, 700 from 58 shopkeepers on account of charging exorbitant prices for essential commodities. The action has been taken under Price Control and Prevention of Profiteering and Hoarding Act 1977 & Ehtram-e-Ramzan Act. This was stated by the Executive District Officer Revenue Hyderabad in his statement.
The EDO further warned the shopkeepers to sell the essential items as per fixed rates, failing which their act will be treated as offence, punishable with imprisonment of term which may extend to three years and fine, which may be extended to Rs 100, 000 under the law.
