There was no let up in rise in essential which has started scaling up much before the holy Ramazan, as a result traders were complaining hardly any sales in retail though the first week is about to end. However, on the opening day seed and grain markets remained close to mourn the death of an important member.
The dyes from market (per pound) such as sulphur black 522 was quoted at Rs 250, Nigrosine MS shed Rs 15 to Rs 130 and acid 216 rose by Rs 5 to Rs 110. Formation Taiwan brown FG rose by Rs 10 to Rs 170, Blue FFG rose by Rs 45 to Rs 140, and golden F3R 150 pc rose by Rs 38 to Rs 130. On Tuesday wheat, sugar and gur needed most in Ramazan, according to market sources rose further hitting poor consumers hard. The wheat prices depicted rise by Rs 30 with bardana to Rs 2580 while now quality gained Rs 30 to Rs 2590, sugar rose by Rs 50 to Rs 4750 gur low type was unchanged at Rs 6800 while the best rose substantially by Rs 100 to Rs 6200.
On Wednesday too change of hands remained low as visitors were not in bulk owing to skyrocketing prices such as wheat need during Ramazan rose by Rs 20 (wheat old and new both types) to Rs 2600 while the other was quoted Rs 2615. Dal beetle rose by Rs 100 to Rs 4200 and the other better type was quoted at Rs 4400.

On Jodia Bazar, milk powder, more than expected jumped such as Irish skimmed (per bag of 25 kg) quoted at Rs 6700, Nurpur rose by Rs 200 to Rs 6000 and Amul (India) rose sharply by Rs 200 to Rs 7000. Vegetable Euro Gold quoted to Rs 6900 and Melco Veg edged higher by Rs 300 to Rs 6000.
On Thursday moong, masoor rose in line with other essentials while extremely thin trading for obvious reasons. The moong from Punjab was rose by Rs 65 to Rs 3500, masoor Canada was up Rs 100 to Rs 8500 while the other was quoted at Rs 8600, wheat old and new rose by Rs 25 to Rs 2625 and the other type was quoted at Rs 2640.
On Jodia Bazar chemicals (per Kg) rates were Caustic Soda flakes Saudia rose by Rs 3 to Rs 48, sodium sulphate rose by 25 paisa to Rs 12. NJ Jaiwan went higher by Rs 2 to Rs 147, sulphonic hard was up Rs 4 to Rs 135. DDBSA gained Rs 3 to Rs 139 and PVA Japan was down Re 1 to Rs 197. Hydrogen peroxide Descon 50 percent was quoted at Rs 33 and Sitara at the same amount.
On Friday no change was seen on the wholesale grain and seed market rates as all participants were busy in preparations for Juma prayers. On Jodia Bazar jute goods twine closed down. The changes were: 20x3 Brown ended lower by Re 1 to Rs 69, 16x3 CRT/Indus went down by Re 1 to Rs 69, 8x3 moved downward by Re 1 to Rs 97 and 40x 2 Brown finished lower by Re 1 to Rs 65.
HESSIAN CLOTH (Per 91.44 meter): 45x10 Amin was quoted at Rs 2,350.
On Saturday only a few changes were seen on the wholesale grain and seed market. On the cereal side urad Burma low type rose by Rs 100 to Rs 2900 while the better type did not move any side at Rs 3000. On the seed side cottonseed oilcake with bag fine quality was up by Rs 35 to Rs 970 and inferior type held the overnight level at Rs 920.
On Jodia Bazar Ceylon raw rubber moved up.
The changes were: CEYLON RAW RUBBER (Per lb): Merryrub (Equivalent to RSS3) edged higher by Rs 8 to Rs 86, RSSV moved upward by Rs 7 to Rs 87, Merryrub (Equivalent to Crape) went higher by Rs 10 to Rs 92 and Pale Crape TPC3 finished up by Rs 10 to Rs 92.
LATEX: Merrytax (28 kg) edged upward by Rs 10 to Rs 540, Semnan Tex ended higher by Rs 10 to Rs 540 and Thai (GT) closed up by Rs 10 to Rs 540.
