Founder Group elected unopposed for ICCI Executive Committee

Founder Group has emerged as unopposed winner in the elections for Executive Committee Members of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) which fell vacant due to retirement of 10 Executive Members. The Election Commission was comprised of ICCI former Presidents Zubair Ahmed Malik as Chief election Commission, Tariq Sadiq and Nasir Khan as members.
On the election day only Founder Group members turned up for filing their nomination papers and after thorough scrutiny, Karim Aziz Malik, Mehfooz Elahi, Rafiq Minhas, Shakeel Munir and Haji Muhammad Naeem from Corporate Class while Zahid Mqbool, Syed Adil Anis, Rana Sadiq, Ghulam Sarwar Alvi and Hafeez Ullah Memon from Associate Class were declared elected unopposed as Executive Members of ICCI for the year 2009-11.
With this election, the first phase of ICCI elections had been completed. The election for ICCI new President and Vice Presidents will be held on Sep 17, 2009. Final results will be announced on Sep 30 while the elected office bearers and executive members will take oath on 1st October 2009.
Speaking on the occasion, President ICCI Mian Shaukat Masud said that ICCI had now emerged as a strong and premier representative body of traders and industrialists, which was acting as a bridge between the government and the business community and resolve their problems. He said all traders and industrialists should become member of ICCI to strengthen its hands for better protection of their rights.
Khalid Javed, Founder Group Chairman said unopposed victory of Group's nominees speaks volumes of its smart performance. He said majority of small traders had now got representation in ICCI Executive Committee and this should be a cause of great solace for small traders, as their interests will be protected effectively from ICCI platform. ICCI former President Munawar Mughal said ICCI was spearheading the movement for promoting business community's interests and it will continue to serve the businessmen in future as well.
