Special family rooms in jails being constructed

Special family rooms are being constructed in all major jails of the province to facilitate the convicts. Prisons IG Kokab Nadeem Warraich told APP here Sunday that in line with the order of Federal Shariat Court, Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif issued special directives to build family rooms in Central Jails of Lahore, Multan and Faisalabad, and Adiyala Jail of Rawalpindi.
To a question, Warraich said, " Modalities to permit the convict to stay with his wife and for how much time is also being worked out." The Prisons Inspector General said that 50,380 prisoners in 32 jails of Punjab were fasting during this holy month of Ramazan. The jail administration was also providing them quality food during Sehri and Iftar times with menu of chicken for four days and beef for three days, he maintained.
"We have put in place a strict monitoring system to check the quality of food/meal being served to the prisoners," he responded to a query.
