People's rights protection to be ensured: minister

Federal Minister for Population Welfare Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that government was striving hard to ensuring socio-economic justice and for the protection of people's rights in the country.
Talking to Business Recorder here on Sunday she said that under the vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto government had accorded its special attention on converting the country into a real democratic welfare state. The government was making strenuous efforts for introducing welfare system aimed at providing social justice to everyone in the country, Firdous said.
The minister further said that government has formulated a strategy for resolving problems being confronted by the women folk in the country. She disclosed that under the programme training centres were being established in rural areas with concept of imparting training in various trade fields to women folk in the country.
After completion of training, the government would provide small loans to the trained women enabling them to initiate their own business and earn their livelihood easily, the minister revealed. Under the programme she said initially, as many as, 13 women training centres were being set up in Sialkot district to facilitate women.
Dr Firdous further said that the government was making adequate efforts to accomplish Shaheed Benazir Bhutto' s vision aimed at bringing women into mainstream adding that dream of national development could not be materialised without the involvement of women in the overall development process of the country.
Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, who struggled for the cause of women rights, and ensured a respectable status in the society and sacrificed her life for the sake of national cause, she said.
