Pakistan has imported 8.052 million kilos of tea worth $20.891 million in August 2009, up by 19.10 percent over July 2009. Chairman Pakistan Tea Association Mohammad Hanif Janoo said here on Monday, that average price for black tea has also increased to $2.59 per kg due this month due to heavy buying from Afghan traders.
The country imported 154,462 kg of green tea worth $207,271. Kenya was the largest exporter of black tea to Pakistan having 55.72 percent share while China was the largest seller of green tea with 100 percent share.
