The Lahore High Court issued notices for September 28 in an application seeking registration of FIR against former president Pervez Musharraf, interior minister Rehman Malik, minister for parliamentary affairs, Babar Awan and other 12 persons in Benazir assassination case. Earlier, a judge of the LHC Asif Saeed Khosa had refused to proceed with the petition as one of the respondents is his close relative.
The application was filed by Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam protocol officer of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto through his counsel Manzoor Ahmad advocate. Earlier, an additional district and sessions judge had dismissed his petition on the plea the federal government was investigating the case.
Counsel submitted that the murder of Benazir Bhutto was an international conspiracy wherein Pervez Musharraf and respondents were involved. He requested the court to order registration of FIR against the respondents for the murder of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. The other respondents included former Director General Intelligence Bureau, Ejaz Shah, former chief minister Punjab Pervez Elahi, former care taker interior minister, Hamid Nawaz, interior secretary Kamal Shah and former spokesman of interior ministry Javed Iqbal Cheema.
