NWFP LGC to take action against corruption in TMAs

The Local Government Commission (LGC) NWFP on Tuesday decided to take severe action against Nazims and government officials for the misappropriation of million of rupees in various TMAs in the province. The meeting of the commission held here with Senior Minister, Bashir Ahmad Bilour, who also holds the portfolio of the local government.
Those who attended were included Secretary LG&RD Hifzur Rahman, Secretary LCB Rehmat Ghazi, members of the LGC and other concerned authorities. The commission reviewed audit and inquiry reports of various TMAs for the last financial years.
The commission took a number of decisions including initiating disciplinary action against all involved officers on gross irregularities in collusion with Nazims as well as making the financial and administrative matters of the TMAs more transparent and streamlined. The meeting decided to collect details of all vehicles, machinery, income and expenditures of all the TMAs in the province and thoroughly examining it on realistic grounds.
Similarly, all the TMAs were asked to submit in-depth details of its official lands, moveable and immovable properties as well as strictly discouraging the Qabza groups on government properties. TMAs were also asked to utilise it for municipal services and welfare of the masses while the buildings and plazas would be constructed on the useless lands to enhance income of TMAs and make them self-sufficient in financial terms.
Speaking on the occasion, Senior Minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour appreciated the role of Local Government Commission for proper use of government funds, stoppage of corruption and saving public money in various TMAs and directed the concerned authorities for chalking out effective policy in this regard. He said even chronic problems could be solved if we work with sincerity and missionary zeal. He underlined the need of the judicious and transparent use of the available resources.
