Union politicising PTCL workers for its benefits

02 Sep, 2009

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), while putting the facts straight about the union's protest, staged here at PTCL head quarters in Islamabad, has issued the statement. As per details, PTCL management termed this protest a clear violation of the code of conduct issued by National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC), for the upcoming referendum in the PTCL Union.
Contrary to the instructions issued by the court, one of the small union group started demonstrating in front of the PTCL head office, illegally, to get undue advantage for the referendum over other unions. "The group has created hindrances in the smooth operation of the company and tried to lock PTCL offices. Two days back they even forcefully entered PTCL headquarters, besides being warned by the Law Enforcement staff.
Yet they insisted on remaining inside and caused inconvenience to other workers. On the basis of these illegal activities, FIRs were registered against the agitators. PTCL management and civil administration has tried its best to resolve the problem peacefully, while on the other hand the agenda of the said union was only to get political mileage for the upcoming referendum."-PR
