The PML-N Senator Sayed Zafar Ali Shah Tuesday said that if former president Pervez Musharraf was not tried then the people had the right to demand midterm polls. Talking to reporters at premises of the Supreme Court, he said, after removing objections of Registrar office of the Supreme Court he would again file his petition for trial of Musharraf in the apex court on Wednesday.
He said that the government did not want to try Musharraf under Article-6 for his November 3, 2007 acts. When asked why he is filing the petition when his party has distanced itself from bringing a resolution in the National Assembly for trial of the former president, he said that Article-6 had nothing to do with the Parliament.
He said the sitting government could initiate trial of Pervez Musharraf, but if the government was not interested then any one from the 170 million people of Pakistan can register the case against the former president. To a question about long march by PML-N for trial of Musharraf, he said that if the need arises they would definitely go for the long march.
