Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the poor, widows and the destitute persons have the right over Sasta atta and sugar and to get them their right. He said that by the grace of Almighty Allah and due to the co-operation of elected representatives, monitoring teams and administration, Sasta atta, sugar and other eatable items were easily available to the deserving people in Ramazan Bazaars.
He said that on the direction of Quaid Pakistan Muslim League (N) Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, billions of rupees were being spent for the provision of relief to the people during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak. Sharif said that for the first time in the history of the country, a record subsidy had been given on atta as a result of which 20-kg atta bag at Rs 200 and 10-kg atta bag at Rs 100 were easily available to the people in the Ramazan Bazaars and truck-points.
Shahbaz Sharif was talking to the people during his surprise visit to various Ramazan Bazaars at Pakpattan and Sahiwal Tuesday. The chief minister inspected the stalls of atta, sugar and other essential items in Ramazan Bazaars and inquired about the availability, quality and prices of daily use items from the people.
Addressing the people in Ramazan Bazaars of Sahiwal and Pakpattan, Shahbaz Sharif said that service to the people remained his mission and all resources were being spent for this purpose. He said that he would not rest content until the provision of Sasta atta and sugar to every poor at his doorstep.
He said that as Khadam-e-Punjab, solution of people's problems and provision of relief to them was his responsibility and he would fulfil it at all costs. He said that due to joint efforts of elected representatives and administration and effective system of monitoring, Sasta atta, sugar and other eatable items were easily available to the deserving people in Ramazan Bazaars and poor people of the province were benefiting from Ramazan package. He said that people should keep a vigilant eye on hoarders, profiteers and those getting Sasta atta and sugar for trade purposes and hand over persons involved in this heinous act to the police.
He said that not only tents have been installed in the Ramazan Bazaars for the facility of the people, but separate counters had also been established for disabled, elderly people and women so that they could not face any difficulty for getting daily use items. He said that atta was being provided in abundant quantity in Ramazan Bazaars and thousands of bags of atta were returning back from the Ramazan Bazaars.
He said that Sasta atta, sugar, fruits, vegetables and other items were being provided to the people on cheaper rates in Ramazan Bazaars as compared to the open market. He said that provision of sugar at Rs 47 per kg had also been ensured in the open market. Chief Minister said that he was happy to come in the city of Baba Farid Shakkar Gunj and besides repair of dilapidated roads in this city, a beautiful park would also be developed for the provision of recreational facilities to the citizens and he would personally supervise the development work.
Chief Minister inspected the Ramazan Bazaars set up in Kharkhana Bazaar and Government High School in Pakpattan and Baldia Hall in Sahiwal. On this occasion, he asked the people to inform him about the availability of Sasta atta, sugar and other commodities and their rates without any fear upon which all the people replied that visits of Chief Minister throughout the province were yielding positive results and cheaper and quality items were easily available to them in Ramazan Bazaars. They said that Chief Minister had proved himself as Khadam-e-Punjab in the real sense and was taking unprecedented steps for the welfare of the people without caring his comfort and heat.
The Chief Minister expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements in Ramazan Bazaars of Pakpattan and Sahiwal and appreciated the efforts of local administration and added that three districts would be awarded prizes for showing exemplary performance regarding provision of quality items at subsidised price in Ramazan Bazaars. On the arrival of Chief Minister in the Ramazan bazaar of Pakpattan, a woman requested for the arrest of the persons involved in the murder of five persons of her family upon which Chief Minister consoled her and assured provision of speedy justice. He directed DPO Pakpattan to submit him a report within seven days in this regard.
