Parliamentary panel decides to repeal 58 2(b)

The Special Committee of the Parliament on Constitutional Reforms has unanimously decided to repeal Article 58 2(b) of the Constitution and bring Local Government system under administrative control of the provinces, reliable sources told the Business Recorder on Friday.
According to sources, the committee also reviewed various clauses of the Legal Framework Order (LFO) and taken into account Article one of Constitution along with considering proposals of different political parties for creating new provinces. The sources said that the proposals of creating new provinces was outrightly rejected. However, majority of the participants supported the proposals of changing the name of NWFP but they were of the view whatever name is suggested all the political stakeholders should be taken on board.
