Pakistan's army rescue flood-hit people in North Waziristan: ISPR

Army troops conducted rescue operations through helicopters in the flash flood hit mountainous areas of North Waziristan Agency, said an ISPR release here Saturday. Army troops rescued women and children from the damaged houses in the area of Gurvek and Faqir Api in the North Waziristan Agency at the height of 8000 feet.
The flood washed away 13 shops and partially damaged 7 others in Gorvek Bazar, 12 houses also collapsed in the area causing 7 deaths. Pakistan Army soldiers present in Gorvek area extended immediate support to the locals including free medical support, rations and other basic necessities.
Special helicopter sorties were flown from Miran Shah for the purpose. Pak Army is also distributing cooked food for Sehri and Iftar amongst the affectees. The relief operation has been hailed by the locals of the area and appreciated the role of Army in prompt and timely assistance to flood affected people.
