Poverty survey under BISP completed in 16 districts

The first phase of the poverty survey under Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has been completed in 16 districts and it will be soon extended to other districts across the country. This was announced by Farzana Raja, chairperson BISP, while chairing the BISP management board meeting here on Saturday.
Federal Finance Minister, Shaukat Tarin, Special Adviser to Prime Minister on Social Sector, Shehnaz Wazir Ali and other high officials running the BISP were also present on the occasion. Chairman BISP said that all efforts are being made to ensure transparency while collecting data through survey.
"The poverty survey will identify most deprived areas across the country to enhance living standard of poor and alleviate poverty", she further added. She also announced that according to BISP target five million deserving families to be benefited this year. Out of this 2.2 million families are already availing the facilities under the programme.
She showed full satisfaction over distribution of money among the registered families and said that the process of funds distribution among poor will continue smoothly in future. "The management information system has been made operational to ensure transparency in the fund distribution system", added Farzana Raja.
