Thai stocks closed 1.08 percent higher Thursday to reach a 13-month high due to bargain hunting in big-cap shares, an analyst said. The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) composite index gained 7.50 points to close at 703.09, and the blue chip SET-50 index added 6.08 points to 505.84.
Gainers led losers 184 to 143 while 142 were unchanged on turnover of 6.2 billion shares worth 36.7 billion baht (1.1 billion dollars). The Thai baht close unchanged against the dollar at 34.01-02 to one dollar. It continued to fall against the euro, finishing at 49.45-54 baht compared to the previous day's 49.31-36.
Coal producer Banpu rose 2.00 baht to close at 422.00 baht, PTT Plc gained 4.00 to 264.00. Bangkok Bank lost 1.00 baht to close at 114.50. Kasikornbank edged up 0.25 baht to 77.00 while Siam Commercial Bank was 0.50 baht ahead at 82.25 baht. Siam Cement gained 1.00 baht to 218.00.
