People-police cooperation can decrease crime rate: Zulqarnain

11 Sep, 2009

AJK President Raja Zulqarnain Khan Thursday said the ratio of crimes can be decreased drastically by virtue of mutual co-operation of police and citizens. The President was addressing a gathering at Kasgupal area of District Bhimber in AJK. He commended the gallantry of the officials of Ali Beig Police Station for foiling a robbery attempt and arresting the accused on the spot.
Raja Zulqarnain directed Inspector General Police, AJK to confer acclamation certificates to SP Bhimber, DSP, SHO Ali Beig Police Station and some other constables. He said police was perhaps the most criticised institution for its certain shortcomings, however, its achievements should also praised for its improvement.
The AJK President said people living in remote and rural areas, especially inhabiting along Line of Control (LoC) were subject to various problems owing to the unprovoked shelling of Indian Occupation Forces for 15 long years. Relentless shelling by Indian forces meant for inflicting damage on human lives and property had stalled tourism activity that rendered many people jobless, besides disrupting development of the area.
He thanked the government of Pakistan for announcing mega-developmental projects for the people living near LoC, and hoped it would result in progress and prosperity of the people. He said the AJK government in spite of its limited resources was struggling to improve vital sectors like health, education, food as well as providing other basic needs to the people.
