ECP promptly addresses complaints on by-poll code of conduct

ISLAMABAD: Complaints on violation of code of conduct for by-election in NA-120 Lahore-III were addressed promptly, an official of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said on Wednesday.

He said that instructions were issued to the officials concerned on violation of code of conduct and solid steps were taken in time.

He said that even notices were issued to the ministers on receiving complaints on code of conduct including federal and provincial ministers on their participation in bye election activities.

He said that total 17 complaints were submitted with ECP on violation of code of conduct for by-election.

He reiterated that 13 applications filed by different complainers were received by the office of Returning Officer while four applications were received by the office of District Returning Officer.

He said these applications were related with using official machinery in the said constituency for particular candidate, permission for fixation of banners, initiating development work in constituency, transfer or posting and using government funds in election campaign.
