Production from Nashpa oil well rose to 7000 bbl per day: OGDC

There has been a significant find in oil and gas near Kohat by Oil & Gas Development Company Limited. Production from Nashpa oil well has increased to 7000 bbl per day in addition to 25.7 million cubic feet of gas per day.
According to a press release issued by OGDC, the Operator of Nashpa E.L., together with its joint venture partners ie PPL and GHPL has discovered hydrocarbon reserves in the Lockhart Zone of recent discovery made in Nashpa No 01 well located in District Karak of NWFP province. Nashpa No 01 well was spuded on 29.6.2008 and drilled down to the depth of 4384 M.
Initially, one of the potential zones, middle Lockhart was tested on August 31, 2009 which flowed 3000 bbls/day of crude oil and 9.7 MMSCFD of gas. Subsequently, testing of additional zones continued which resulted in finding of significant reserves of hydrocarbons at upper Lockhart.
Initial testing of this zone conducted on September 10, 2009 has produced about 4200 barrels of oil per day and 17 million of gas per day. These numbers will further improve as OGDCL plans to carry out stimulation job to enhance well''s productivity. The per day production of oil in the country is said to be between 65 to 70,000 bbl per day.-PR
