As many as 43 village defence committees have been set-up at union council Sakhara of Tehsil Matta in Swat district to strengthen government hands in maintaining peace and harmony in their respective areas, police said on Sunday.
As many as 700 people have initially been included in the committees and more people would be included in it with an objective to ensure permanent peace in their areas and stop the way of unwanted elements. The committees have been set-up during a grant jirga at Sakhara that was attended besides others.
